Tasman Valley Young Farmers is opening its doors to more young people as the group looks to build on a successful 2025.
The club was recognised for its strong growth and community contribution, earning a finalist spot for Club of the Year at the New Zealand Young Farmers National Awards. Membership also expanded, with more young people from across the primary industries getting involved — from farming and horticulture to forestry and agri-services — reflecting the region’s diversity.
The group enjoyed a busy 2025 of competitions and social events, including a classic bark-up, a quiz night to raise funds for those affected by mid-year flooding, and plenty of relaxed catchups.
As 2026 begins, Tasman Valley Young Farmers is welcoming anyone aged 16 to 31 with an interest in the primary industries — not just traditional farming, but all corners of the sector. Whether it’s horticulture, forestry, aquaculture, contracting or agri-services, the club says it is about connecting like-minded young people who share a passion for rural life and inviting them to join in the fun.
“Whether you’re on the land, in a lab, driving a tractor, or helping to process what we produce, you’re part of this industry — and you’re welcome here,” a club spokesperson says.
The year ahead will focus on building connections, sharing skills, and supporting young people across the rural community. Events and meet-ups are planned to help members network, learn, and have fun along the way.
