Walt Westrupp received a surprise honour last week to mark the end of his long tenure at the helm of Westrupps Jewellers. Walt has closed the door on the watch repair and jewellery shop he took over from his father Bo in 1982.
Two pipers, Bruce Fraser and Stu Holland, led Walt from his now empty shop frontage to the corner of High and Wallace Streets, where his friend Tim Morice spoke to the gathered crowd. Tim acknowledged Walt’s decades as Motueka’s kerbside jeweller and wished him well for the future.
